Kindergarten math · Unit 9: Measuring

Days, months, years, and seasons

What this lesson shows

A year is 12 months and 4 seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter, then spring again. A day is shorter than a month, and a month is shorter than a year.

The worked example

The lesson works this one step by step: It is summer. Then your kid tries one like it on paper.

The steps

  1. 12 months in a year
  2. Spring, summer, fall, winter
  3. Then spring again
  4. A day, a month, then a year

Helping at home

Read each box aloud. Your kid touches each season and says its name, then finds the ringed one: the next season is to its right. After winter, follow the arrow back to spring. Name the season it is outside today.

If your kid gets stuck

Spring, summer, fall, winter, then spring again.

Watch it with Lux

With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
