What this lesson shows
Credit is borrowing that must be paid back. A planned buy fits the money set aside; an unplanned one can leave too little for what is needed.
The worked example
The lesson works this one step by step: $20 set aside, $15 needed, a $9 buy, $1 interest. Then your kid tries one like it on paper.
The steps
- Planned: it fits the money set aside
- Not planned: is enough left?
- Credit: borrow now, pay back more
Helping at home
Read each story aloud. Your kid subtracts the buy from the money set aside and compares what is left with what is needed. Borrowed money is paid back with the interest added.
If your kid gets stuck
Subtract, then compare with what you need.
Watch it with Lux
With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
