What this lesson shows
Six quadrilaterals. Tick marks show equal sides, arrows show parallel sides, and a small square shows a right angle. A kite has two pairs of equal sides next to each other and no parallel sides.
The worked example
The lesson works this one step by step: a parallelogram, a rectangle, a rhombus, a square, a trapezoid, a kite, a right triangle, a door. Then your kid tries one like it on paper.
The steps
- Ticks: equal sides
- Arrows: parallel sides
- Small square: right angle
Helping at home
Your kid draws each shape with a ruler, then marks it: a tick on each equal side, arrows on parallel sides, and a small square in each right angle. Ask them to name the shape from its marks, and to find one like it at home.
If your kid gets stuck
Ticks for equal sides, arrows for parallel sides.
Watch it with Lux
With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
