What this lesson shows
A triangle slides right, flips over a line, and turns a quarter turn. After each move it is the same size and shape.
The worked example
The lesson works this one step by step: a right triangle, slide, flip, turn. Then your kid tries one like it on paper.
The steps
- Slide: a straight move
- Flip: over a line
- Turn: around a corner
- Same size and shape
Helping at home
A slide moves a shape in a straight line. A flip turns it over a line, like a page. A turn spins it around one corner, which stays put. Draw it on grid paper, count the squares along each side before and after, and check that the shape is the same size and shape.
If your kid gets stuck
Count the squares along each side.
Watch it with Lux
With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
