What this lesson shows
Fixes a mistake
When a flat is one whole, a rod is a tenth and a small cube is a hundredth.
The worked example
The lesson works this one step by step: 1 flat, 3 rods, 4 small cubes. Then your kid tries one like it on paper.
The steps
- Find the one
- A rod is 0.1
- A small cube is 0.01
Helping at home
First find which block is one whole. When a flat is one, 10 rods make it, so a rod is a tenth, and 100 small cubes make it, so a small cube is a hundredth.
If your kid gets stuck
How many rods make a flat?
Watch it with Lux
With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
