What this lesson shows
A circle and a rectangle cut into 2, 3, and 4 equal parts. The whole is two halves, three thirds, or four fourths.

The lesson works this one step by step: rectangle (question 1). Then your kid tries one like it on paper.

- 3 equal parts: thirds
- 4 equal parts: fourths
- More parts, smaller parts

Cut paper shapes into 2, 3, and 4 equal parts. Name each part: one half, one third, one fourth. Count how many parts make the whole. More parts means smaller parts.
