What this lesson shows
Fixes a mistake
A set can have no mode or two modes. Range is not the count.
The worked example
The lesson works this one step by step: Laps run: 10, 4, 7, 2, 5, 4, 7. Then your kid tries one like it on paper.
The steps
- No repeats: no mode
- A tie: two modes
- Range: greatest − least
- Not the count
Helping at home
Write the numbers in order and look for repeats. If no number comes up more than once, the answer is "no mode". If two numbers tie for most, both are modes. The range is always the greatest minus the least, never how many numbers there are.
If your kid gets stuck
Write them in order, then look for repeats.
Watch it with Lux
With Lux, this lesson is a narrated video and a printed page your kid works on. Then Lux helps with the same math on their own worksheet, one question at a time.
